AN INTERDISCIPLINARY AND INTERDEPARTMENTAL PROGRAM AT COLUMBIA

Sebastiano Belleggia

I am a fifth-year PhD student in Classical Studies, working on Ancient Philosophy. I am especially interested in Aristotle and the Aristotelian tradition, with a focus on problems in logic and epistemology. My dissertation project examines Aristotle’s dialectic and its foundational role in scientific inquiry, and compares Aristotle’s use of endoxa with similar strategies in the medical tradition.

My publications include “Aristotle on Adjectival Beings and Their Non-Essential Accounts,” Elenchos 47 (2026), and “Resurrecting Ancient Aporiai in the Debate on Categories 2,” Ancient Philosophy 46.2 (2026). A paper of mine, “The Hippocratic Enthymeme,” is forthcoming in Classical Quarterly.
