CLST Chair Dr. Ellen Morris Publishes New Book: "Famine and Feast in Ancient Egypt"

What's Happening

The Classical Studies Graduate Program is delighted to announce the recent release of Famine and Feast in Ancient Egypt (Cambridge University Press) by its Chair, Professor Ellen Morris. She shares insights on her research about collective remembrance, historical antecedents to contemporary crises, and much more in this interview featured in Barnard College's "Break This Down" series: "The book investigates the social memory of famine in pharaonic and Greco-Roman Egypt and how maintaining intergenerational collective memory can help societies stave off or brace against potentially recurring tragedies, such as devastating climatic downturns, food shortages, and political unrest."
